British MP Watson Hosts 'Taking Video Games Seriously' Panel[01.21.10]

West Bromwich East Member of Parliament and serious games proponent Tom Watson will chair a discussion next week that will explore the role video games and virtual worlds play in modern society.

Watson's "Taking Video Games Seriously" panel will cover video games and "the lessons we might learn from them, their dangers, and why the public debate needs to move beyond breathless accusations about violent, screen-addicted young people."

Watson will be joined by a selection of speakers, including Fun Inc author Tom Chatfield, The Guardian columnist Sam Leith, and Blitz Games CEO Philip Oliver.

The discussion will take place in the Grand Committee Room at Westminster Hall on Monday, January 25th, from 6:30-8:00 PM. Registration information can be found at Watson's blog.
