Jerry Bush opened with the statement: “If you use the internet, CISCO has a huge impact on your life”. The fact that so much of the internet relies on CISCO means that there needs to be people who know how to use CISCO equipment in order to keep things running. The Network Associate Certificate is one of the primary means that CISCO has to help keep themselves on top. With over ˝ million certified individuals, it guarantees that their devices can function to their utmost.
The primary goal of CISCO’s game initiative is to get people ready for certification. Even with the myriad of initiatives they already had in place, CISCO was interested in reaching more people and providing better solutions to existing students.
An online quiz game was one of the first successful projects CISCO started to help engage and reinforce learning through the site, allowing people to practice questions and share their knowledge with others. This lead to several other initiatives. Working with network addresses has been difficult for students of the certification program, so CISCO looked to games to help solve this problem. The game, Binary, was created and now is helping more people get better scores.
CISCO has seen the positive results and is now expanding the ways it is looking to apply games in their business by looking to identify their areas of weakness and how they can shore them up using games.
